My take on the scheduled/proposed “March”:
A march on the Charelston, W.VA state capitol is one thing; a march on the U.S. Capitol is another.
But, I am convinced that black America should stop lying to itself and do a march with the feet and written complaints to the United Nations.
Constantly going to the offices/legislative jurisdictions of your murderers never got anything solved in the over 400 years of atrocities and crimes against humanity that black Americans have suffered at the hands of the United States of America.
Something of lasting benefit may, or may not, come of going to the UN.
But, at least it is worth a try.

February 6, 2008Five are indicted in rape, torture of Megan WilliamsWoman charged with hate crime in Logan caseFive people were indicted Tuesday in Logan County for crimes against Megan Williams, the young black woman whose alleged rape and torture last fall has drawn national attention. One of those people was indicted for a hate crime against Williams.Two other people pleaded guilty to charges last week that will send them to jail for up to 10 years, according to Logan County Prosecuting Attorney Brian Abraham.Williams was discovered by police at a trailer near Big Creek on Sept. 8, 2007. She was allegedly raped, tortured, beaten and forced to eat animal feces, among other acts.The indictments and plea deals paint a clearer picture how the seven people were allegedly involved with Williams, and what they allegedly did to her.
Bobby Brewster was indicted on charges of kidnapping, malicious assault, second-degree sexual assault, assault during the commission of a felony and conspiracy. His mother, Frankie Brewster, was indicted on charges of kidnapping, first-degree sexual assault and conspiracy. It was her trailer where police found Williams. Karen Burton was indicted on charges of kidnapping and malicious wounding. She was the only one to be charged under West Virginia’s hate crimes law, for allegedly stabbing Williams in the ankle while saying, “This is what we do to niggers around here,” according to the prosecutor.”That is an expression of her motivation,” Abraham said.There were other instances where the racial epithet was used, but in all of those cases, the people had other reasons to commit the crimes against Williams, Abraham said.National black leaders have rallied in Charleston to ask prosecutors to bring hate crimes against the defendants in the Williams case. Abraham had said such charges could take away from other charges with stiffer penalties that could be easier to prove. Linnie Burton Jr., Karen Burton’s son, was indicted on one count of misdemeanor battery. He was not among the original six people arrested in the case. Danny Combs was charged with kidnapping, first-degree sexual assault and conspiracy. George Messer and Alisha Burton both pleaded guilty Friday to one count of kidnapping and one count of assault during the commission of a felony. Each was sentenced to 10 years on the kidnapping charge and 2 to 10 years for the assault charge. Those sentences will run at the same time.During the course of the investigation, it became clear that Messer and Alisha Burton were not involved in any of the alleged sex acts against Williams, Abraham said.Their plea deals were made after consulting with Megan Williams and her family, the prosecutor said. Both Messer and Alisha Burton, Karen Burton’s daughter, have agreed to testify against the remaining five defendants.Messer admitted to slapping and punching Williams during the time she was confined to certain areas of the Brewster mobile home and in an effort to intimidate her, Abraham said. He said he slapped her five times, punched her once with a closed fist and poured hot wax on her, the prosecutor said. Alisha Burton admitted to slapping Williams on several occasions, punching her once, striking her with a sandal so hard that it broke and hitting her across the buttocks with a stick, Abraham said.
“If the events regarding George Messer and Alisha Burton had occurred outside the context of the overall hostage taking and other events, they could have been misdemeanor offenses,” he said. “When they did these events with an effort to conceal her, it elevated that to a felony offense.”
Among the other defendants, Bobby Brewster stabbed Williams in the leg two or three times, Abraham said.
Also, “by threat of force, coercion or compulsion he required her to perform oral sex [on] his mother, Frankie Brewster,” Abraham said. “[Frankie Brewster] acted in concert with Bobby. She was a willing participant.”Danny Combs allegedly held a knife at Williams’ throat and demanded she perform oral sex on him.Megan Williams originally moved to the trailer with Bobby Brewster of her own volition, Abraham said.
“The investigation reached the conclusion that the people residing in the trailer and visiting the trailer were engaged in a lifestyle where they would consume alcohol or other substances and as a result become very violent with one another,” he said. “Megan Williams moved into this environment and stayed with Bobby.”
All of the defendants except Linnie Burton Jr. were charged with kidnapping because each was involved in detaining Williams at different times at the trailer from about Aug. 1 to Sept. 8, Abraham said. Kidnapping carries a potential sentence of life in prison.
It was after Bobby Brewster and Karen Burton allegedly stabbed and cut Williams that those involved became concerned that she would tell police and would not allow her to leave, Abraham said.
She was held either in a bedroom or under the kitchen sink, Abraham said. Doors would be blocked and different people would take turns guarding her.
“There would be times when she would be released from the room,” the prosecutor said. “At other times she had the freedom to move about the house and the property.”
Each of those involved with abusing Williams had their own motives, Abraham said.
Bobby and Frankie Brewster and Danny Combs sexually assaulted Williams for their own pleasure, he said.
Karen Burton sometimes assaulted Williams because she believed she stole her food stamp card, Abraham said. Her motive for the stabbing, he said, was allegedly Williams’ race.
“Not all of them committed all the acts,” he said. “Various people did various things. … Now we see what each of the individuals did and what acts they committed.”

Now that interracial dating and marraige is not uncommon, more and more spousal abuse cases involve interracial couples. It appears that the Megan Williams case is turning out to be a case of domestic violence rather than a hate crime.
Bobby R. Brewster, one of six arrested in the case, had a relationship with the victin, He was charged in July with domestic battery and assault after a dispute between them. It appears that this is the motivation for the subsequent attack on Williams. All too often, husbands and boyfriends arrested for battering their spouses or girl friends often retaliate with the victims call the police.
There are other cases of interracial violence that are more horrific but which have drawn less attention than the Megan Williams case.
Last January, two Knoxville Tennessee, college students, Channon Christian 21, set and her boyfriend Chris Newsom 23 were carjacked by two black males. They forced Christian and Newsom to accompany them back to their home, where they then enlisted the help of two others, including a black female. They sodomize Chris Newsom in front of Channon before they castrated him and shot him in the head. They wrapped his body in bedding and set it afire, then discarded the body along some railroad tracks.
The three males, with the assistance of the female, subjected Channon to a brutal and continuous series of rapes, including sodomy, over a period of two days, The men urinated on her, and poured cleaning chemicals into her mouth and down her throat in an effort to destroy the physical evidence they had left behind. They then cut off her breasts, dismembered her body and threw it in a trash can at the residence.
On September 21, 2007, to cite another case, a 12-year old white girl named Emily Haddock was home sick from school. Four black males broke into her home and shot her in the head numerous times. Her body was found later that same day by her grandfather. Initially the police described the murder scene as “brutal,” but didn’t elaborate. Almost immediately a shroud enveloped the case and any further details have been carefully suppressed

IR dating/marriage is still very uncommon in America. Don’t take my word for it. Check the U. S. Census Report of 2000. Overwhelmingly, blacks still marry blacks 95%, and whites still marry whites, 95%. Demographic data of married Couples in the US (http://www.census.gov/population/socdemo/hh-fam/p20-537/2000/tabFG3.txt) and demographics of cohabiting couples in the US (http://www.census.gov/population/socdemo/hh-fam/p20-537/2000/tabUC3.txt).

The domestic aspect of this case does not negate the racist hatred of these criminal inhuman acts against this young woman. The facts are clearly evidenced from the police reports that crimes were committed against this young woman because of her race and gender. Because she knew her attackers does not in any way lessen the acts of brutality against her.
A rapist is a rapist, a savage batterer is a savage batterer, an attempted/premeditated murderer is an attempted/premeditated murderer.
Nothing can change that, and trivializing domestic abuse as if it is mutually exclusive of this case reeks of callousness on your part.
The criminals attacked and sought to destroy this young woman. These criminals will pay for their acts of inhumanity against Ms. Megan Williams.

I’d also like to point out to Blair that there has not been much on the Megan Williams story in the mainstream media. You’ve really got to search to find it, or be from the area (and recently there hasn’t been much on local news either). It’s pretty much been a one-day story.

Some people are just so out of touch when it comes to empathy towards victims of color, especially Black victims. Yes, I understand the Channon Christian and her boyfriend’s murder as heinous but what about murder victims of color? Where’s the outrage? The sympathy? Don’t they cry out for rememberance by the rest of the public? They’re hardly covered by mainstream media because the media is white-run and focus on white interests. When they do stories on victims of color, they just get the one-day treatment, never the Laci Peterson, Lori Hacking, Jennifer Levin treatment.
Please read the article in the upcoming November issue of Essence magazine regarding the W.V. hate crime and the Dunbar Village gang rape case. I wish everyone read the article so that they can get a clear sense of how Black female lives are devalued in America.

I’m curious-what constitutes a hate crime in America? Because if it isn’t a hate crime to rape, sodomize, beat, the forcibly feed a woman(regardless of color) fecal matter I don’t know what a hate crime could be. I remember seeing the story all over the news and wondering, what is wrong with people. You know as a little girl I remember going to West Virginia to visit my grandparents, little town of Hillsboro, I only recall seeing one black person, go figure, some people take a while to come out of their ignorance. I hope that this young lady stands strong when it comes to this case and try to keep in mine, they will get what is coming to them.
