Since his visit to Grant County last February, neo-Nazi activistPaul Mullet has resettled in Chillicothe, Ohio, and is claiming hisgroup to be the real Aryan Nations.

The Aryan Nations website touts the American National SocialistParty as “America’s fastest growing political party,” and liststhat Mullet – formerly described as the national director – as the“ANSP Reichsfuhrer.”

In fact, Mullet is one of the few people cited by name on thewebsite.  A map has links to state contacts, but callers arereferred to a single e-mail address, claiming that harassment andworkplace threats have forced the “pro-white” leaders to screensuch contacts.

The website phone number is the same one Mullet gave when hewas in John Day last winter, claiming to be scouting for a newAryan homeland.

The Eagle called Mullet this week to see if he still harborsany interest in Grant County, but got only a brief “I’ve gotnothing to say to you guys” before he hung up the phone.

Adorned with swastikas and “Heil Hitler” graphics, Mullet’sAryan Nations website presents a 25-point platform that castigatesJews and calls for a union of all whites as a “Greater America,”with citizenship only for those of pure white blood. The websitealso offers a tribute to Hitler’s Waffen SS troops, copies ofHitler speeches, racist jokes and “cool slurs,” and photos andarticles about the late Richard Butler, who established the AryanNations stronghold in northern Idaho.

Mullet’s group is one of several successors to the Butlerregime, which collapsed after a civil lawsuit bankrupted hiscompound and triggered widespread defections by members. SinceButler’s death in 2004, other white supremacists have vied fordominance in the movement in Idaho and other states, including NewYork, Ohio and Missouri.

The Southern Poverty Law Center has called Mullet’s group oneof the best organized of the offshoots, although it also says mostsplinter groups apparently have little more than a website and afew members.

The SPLC says Mullet’s contingent gained members from theMaryland-based World Knights of the Ku Klux Klan when it disbandedin 2010.

Mullet’s group is credited with a demonstration last June atGettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania and a “WhiteUnity Day” in July in Pulaski, Tenn. The SPLC reported that Mulletwas seeking donations to buy 15 acres of land in Tennessee for anew white homeland.
