United Airlines, Flight 93, crashed near the town of Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania, 150 miles northwest of Washington, D.C.

Also among the fatalities were 341 New York City Fire Department firefighters, 2 New York City Fire Department paramedics, 8 private ambulance personnel, 23 New York City Police Department officers, and 37 Port Authority Police Department officers. Lieutenant General Timothy Maude, who was the highest ranking person killed at the Pentagon and John P. O’Neill, who was the head of security at the World Trade Center when he was killed trying to rescue people from the South Tower.
To the many workers of the World Trade Center; to the passengers of American Airlines, Flight 11; United Airlines, Flight 175; American Airlines, Flight 77; United Airlines, Flight 93; to the many who lost their lives, volunteers who rushed to the scenes to help in any way they could; to the heroes and heroines of September 11, 2001. . . .rest in peace.
