PBS NewsHour recently spoke with the director of SPLC’s Intelligence Project for a yearlong exploration of the problems and solutions of race in America. In the interview, Heidi recounts our groundbreaking legal strategy of using lawsuits to bankrupt white supremacist groups and how we’ve evolved our strategy to meet the growing sophistication of today’s violent extremists.

Presidential hopefuls Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have signed up several anti-Muslim extremists, including Center for Security Policy founder Frank Gaffney, as national security advisers, contributing to the bigotry against the Muslim community.

SPLC complaint: Louisiana traffic court penalizes Latinos with unconstitutional fees

We’ve just filed a civil rights complaint against a Louisiana traffic court for discriminating against Latinos who don’t speak fluent English. In addition to paying traffic fines and court costs, some were sentenced to mandatory, overpriced English classes where they were mocked and humiliated. They were also forced to pay for inadequate interpreters. The courts have been repeatedly told that they must provide interpretation services free of charge.
