1947   “True Blues” by Roy milton & His Solid Senders charted, reaching #4 R&B.

1953   The Drifters recorded their first hit, “Money Honey” (#1 R&B).

1986   Janet Jackson hit the charts with “When I Think Of You,” the first of ten eventual pop #1s through 2001 for the youngest member of the Jackson family.

1990   Aretha Franklinperformed at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.

1990   LL Cool J began a twenty-one show tour in Bloomington, MN.

1991   The Shirelles performed at the Apollo R&B Reunion to help raise funds for the financially strapped New York theater.
