STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) — Barack Obama has apologized to a Michigan TV reporter for calling her “sweetie” and dodging her question about autoworkers.
WXYZ-TV’s Peggy Agar shouted a question to the Democratic presidential candidate during Obama’s appearance Wednesday at a Chrysler LLC plant in Sterling Heights.
Agar asks Obama what he’s “going to do to help American autoworkers.”
He replies, “Hold on one second, sweetie, we’ll do a press avail, thanks” but didn’t get back to Agar.
On the air later, the station played a voice message Obama left for Agar. Obama apologizes for not getting back to her. He also tells Agar he has a bad habit of calling people “sweetie.”
Obama then says: “I mean no disrespect, so I am duly chastened on that front.”

I tell ya’, the world is going to hell in a handbasket when a man is castigated for calling a woman “Sweetie”.
Ya’ know, he could have called her something really hateful, like b***h OR some other filthy term. Instead the press and the rest of America that has nothing better to do, go ballistic as if the man cursed the woman out.
With all the misogynistic and derogatory names that many men hurl into the faces of women, people have to lose their minds over a remark that Obama said in his telling a reporter he would get back with her on her question she asked of him.
Damn people.
We have better things to worry about.
Like the economy, health care, global warming, the possible extinction of the polar bears, the exorbitant cost of gasoline, the prison industrial complex, poor education and schools for our children, the international crisis, Iraq. . . .
Sheesh.
