‘THE POLICE OFFICER’S DILEMMA’: ANOTHER BIAS TEST

Here is another “association test” for everyone’s view.

Developed by Joshua Correll at the University of Chicago, this on-line test called (“The Police Officer’s Dilemma”:   University of Chicago offers an on-line psychological test ) is a bias test in which you encounter 100 pictures of black and white men, some armed and some unarmed.

The purpose of this test is to evaluate racist tendencies many people harbor towards supposed black criminals, as opposed to white criminals, and  which gun-toting man (black, white) you are more likely to shoot. The idea is to shoot those who are armed and holster your gun when you see someone unarmed — and the program measures how fast you do these things.

Check it out.

Unfortunately, if you’re like most whites and many blacks (and everyone else), you’re quicker to shoot blacks than whites.

Armed or unarmed.
