But they don’t protest Angelina Jolie’s jaunts into and out of their country. Go figure.

This is really tripping me out – these Africans are upset because a black woman is visiting an african nation? Yet, they let Angelina Jolie just come and go as she pleases? This is too much.

Ann – read the article. What is going on here. Why is no one asking the questions about the fixation of this white woman with Africa?

Sometimes I wish that I was a drinking woman – cuz I could really use a good stiff whiskey right now!!!

“Ann – read the article. What is going on here”

I did. Did you read it?

“Super celebrities Brad and Angelina recently purchased Ethiopia for an undisclosed sum. . . . .As it turned out they merely purchased the island of Ethiopia in the UAE’s islands of “The World” development.”

Brad/Angelie bought an island named “Ethiopia”.

    Not the COUNTRY Ethiopia.

What worries me is not Jolie’s mad obssessive desire for cute little children from an East African country situated on the Horn of Africa, but the mindless destruction that these people of UAE are doing to the land and oceanic environment. Damage that is irreversible with long-lasting dire results. The country building these “Islands of the World” (United Arab Emirates) is destroying the natural environment just to make an obscenely gaudy playground for the super-rich:

“Billionaire businessman Richard Branson and musician Rod Stewart are also reported to have bought plots on the development.”

This so-called “Islands of the World” has destroyed flora and fauna:

“What better way to celebrate the environment than to purchase an island that environmentalists say is adversely impacting the region’s waters. From the air, The World and Palm projects create a highly visible impression on the landscape of Dubai. And back down at sea level, significant changes in the marine environment are leaving a visual scar of another type. As a result of the dredging and redepositing of sand for the construction of the islands, the typically crystalline waters of the gulf of Dubai have become severely clouded with silt. Construction activity is damaging the marine habitat, burying coral reefs, oyster beds and subterranean fields of sea grass, threatening local marine species as well as other species dependent on them for food. Oyster beds have been covered in as much as two inches of sediment, while above water, beaches are eroding with the disruption of natural currents.”

“Why is no one asking the questions about the fixation of this white woman with Africa?”

I suppose she has her fixation with Ethiopia just as Branson and the super-rich who buy real estate in this venture will have their very own “island” of what ever country they wish to psychologically “own”, if not the actual country itself.

Jolie is not the first white to have a fixation with Ethiopia/Africa.

And she will not be the last.

“Sometimes I wish that I was a drinking woman – cuz I could really use a good stiff whiskey right now!!!

Nah, try a good V.S.O.P. cognac.

More higher class, not to mention, exquisite in flavor and taste on the pallette.

  6. I smell a double standard here. Few people condemn Angelina Jolie for being obsessed with Africa and of her incessant habit of adopting children of Color from third world countries. Beyonce is getting it from all sides because of her meeting with the Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and of her performance there. Rich westerners pick and choose cultural practices they want to appropriate while ignoring inequality and destruction of peoples and environments of third world nations and cultures. These people have no sensitivity whatsoever. Again, liberal nonblacks are good at this. Whereas conservatives want to dominate and destroy, liberals condescend and pick and choose which cultural practices they like and destroy those that doesn’t fit their idea of utopia. This is disgusting.

    Okay, ladies, gotcha’.

My last comment in response to Ro was on the “Islands of the World” article, which I posted in her response to Jolie’s uncontrollable desire for every child of Ethiopia. Hence my comment to Ro:

“If the above article makes you want to tear your hair out, you’re going to really luuuuv this!”….

in reference to the first article that Ro is speaking of, made in jest, tongue in cheek. I figured that Jolie riled her up to where the second article I linked to would definately send Ro’s blood pressure into the stratosphere. I thought Ro was speaking of the second article I posted a link to.

Sorry ladies, it’s been a rough week. (Smile)

As per the first article, I do agree that Jolie is not raked over the proverbial coals as harshly as Beyonce was just for talking to the Ethiopian spiritual leader.

    Double standard indeed.

Ann – I know that they didn’t buy the country Ethiopia. I just don’t get Jolie’s fixation on Africa and why noone (among the Africans – huge assumption on my part) questions it. These students making a big stink about a black woman visiting Africa and them welcoming Jolie with open arms does not sit well with me. It’s just fundamentally wrong.

“Ann – I know that they didn’t buy the country Ethiopia.”

I was just teasing you. 🙂

    You are right.

First they get mad at Beyonce visiting the religious leader, then they get mad about “poisoned food” in the cafeteria.

    Sheesh.

All the while, Jolie just scoops up gobs and gobs of little black Ethiopian children, and the country of Ethiopia bats not an eyelash.

But, let Beyonce show up, and it’s all, “Black American woman. Attack!”

    Jeez-Louise.

    Sigh.

We both know that white women can do no wrong, but, let a Black woman trip, stumble, and fall, and it’s the end of the world as we know it.
