WORLD DIABETES DAY

Date: 14 November 2009
Place: Observed worldwide

World Diabetes Day promotes awareness that every person with diabetes or at risk of diabetes deserves the best possible quality of education, prevention and care available. This year WHO and its partner on this issue, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), have selected the theme of ”Diabetes: Education and Prevention”.

WHO will focus on disadvantaged communities and vulnerable groups worldwide, with particular attention on populations migrating from rural to urban centres. Difficulties in accessing optimal health care is highest among those who are outside the health care system, or are less likely to access or become aware of available services.
